The rising costs of putting food on the dinner table are proving to be a headache for every household in the country. At Riverside garden centre we understand this problem and are actively trying to encourage people to become 'suburban farmers'.
Once seen as a hobby or pastime, growing your own fruit and vegetables and raising your own livestock is now seen as a viable
alternative to escalating supermarket costs and deteriorating quality. Whether it’s planting herbs in a window box or growing potatoes in a special potato growing bag you don’t have to turn over your entire garden to participate.
Off course you could devote your garden to this way of life and early estimates suggest it could save you a fortune. The average cost of your basic staples according to mysupermarket.co.uk will cost around £780 more than last year, whereas the charity, Garden Organic estimates that a 1.2 x 1.2mtr garden could supply vegetables all year round for as little as £50.
Thats why weve now introduced a range of products ranging from tools all the way to specialised chicken arks designed with the suburban farmer in mind. So why not give it a go, apart from the money you could save you might enjoy it.
